Job Description Summary

The Vice President of U.S. Market Value & Access will be responsible for leading a team developing the market access strategy and execution to ensure optimal market access conditions throughout the life cycle of Mirati’s products. This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for payer access, marketing, coverage, reimbursement, distribution, patient support services, list and net pricing and contracting across all payer types, physician GPO’s and IDN accounts. He/she will build and lead a high functioning Market Access team including a field-based payer team to ensure appropriate access and access solutions for patients and providers. As a member of the commercial leadership team, the role will work across the organization to ensure commercial success of the Mirati portfolio. This role reports to the Senior Vice President, U.S. Commercial and is based in San Diego, CA.

Your Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a successful market access team to support launch, and ongoing commercialization of Mirati’s product(s).
  • Responsible for payer marketing, patient support program (patient services including financial assistance), reimbursement field team, payer (government and private payers) field team, trade and distribution, IDN/GPO account team, pricing and contracting
  • Oversee relationships with insurance/managed care organizations and integrated delivery networks, leading contracting and price negotiations
  • Lead the strategic and tactical development of distribution for Mirati’s product(s) as well as contracting, implementation, and operational management of distribution network partners including Specialty Pharmacies, Specialty Distributors, etc.
  • Ensure a high level of collaboration and integration with the Marketing Team, Sales, Medical, Finance, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional members
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to leverage and implement reimbursement, managed care, payer, and healthcare policies that ensure attainment of managed markets business objectives
  • Develop list and net pricing strategies consistent with customer and market indications and the overall portfolio targeting long-term commercial success
  • Responsible for Gross to Net Forecasting in collaboration with finance
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs to ensure the HEOR plan and value dossier including compelling and credible information for the US to support the payer messaging regarding value
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets that effectively achieve desired goals that are balanced with the financial objectives of the broader commercial organization
  • Provide strategic insights and reimbursement & pricing support for evaluation of pipeline evaluation and business development opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, as well as, US healthcare laws and regulations

What is Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Equivalent life science career experience would be accepted.
  • Minimum 15+ years’ experience in market access and launch of oncology or specialty care products
  • Experiences in payer, reimbursement, pricing & contracting, and leading a field team would be valuable and preferred
  • Proven strong understanding of 3rd party payers (commercial/government payers), distribution and trade, physician networks, healthcare systems, and public policies associated with Oncology
  • Launch experience is a must. Experience building Market Access team from ground up for a small company is preferred
  • Previous experience successfully developing and leading managed markets/payer initiatives that supported product launches; well versed in pharma/payer contracting terms across various segments; experience with oral drugs, including Medicare Part D
  • Track record in building leading, motivating, and training successful team members
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills appropriate to senior stakeholders (External: Executives of various related organizations; Internal: C-suite, board members)
  • Ability to lead, collaborate and influence cross-functional teams within an organization
  • Experience in oncology is required. Solid tumors and oral oncolytic is preferred
  • Flexible, adaptable, diplomatic, and able to effectively deal with ambiguity
  • Possesses a good blend of strategic and operational experience with the ability to see the big picture and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to travel 25%-40% domestic (Post-Covid requirement)

Job Description Summary

The Senior Director of Strategic Account Engagement will be responsible for leading the field operations for Mirati’s Market Value & Access initiatives in the U.S. including recruiting, developing, and leading a National / Regional Account Team covering payers, GPO’s and selected IDN’s in preparation for the launch of our first commercial product, adagrasib, a KRAS G12c inhibitor. The selected candidate will work cross-functionally with in-office and field-based teams in Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Data & Analytics to drive the success of our launch including providing expertise and valuable input in developing the overall strategy and successful execution of key initiatives and tactics. This role will lead and coordinate efforts to establish effective business partnerships with national and regional payer accounts. It will be imperative for this role to ensure effective communication and collaboration between Mirati’s field National / Regional Account Team and other functions/departments including, but not limited to, Distribution, Trade, Payer & Value Strategy, Pricing, Patient Services, Field Sales, Medical Affairs, and Marketing. Beyond hiring top talent, the Senior Director of Strategic Account Engagement will be expected to build and lead a high-performance field account team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and a sense of urgency towards the achievement of desired outcomes. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of the oncology market dynamics including key customers and accounts with an underlying passion and focus on delivering impactful therapies and transforming the lives of patients. This role reports to the Vice President, U.S. Market Value & Access and be based remote in the U.S., although may reasonably be required, as needed, to perform duties at Mirati’s corporate office located in San Diego, CA.

Your Responsibilities

  • Hire, lead, develop and manage a high-performing field-based U.S. account team to establish a favorable and optimal access environment for Mirati’s products
  • Ensure that the U.S. account team is appropriately sized and skilled to effectively represent Mirati’s oncology portfolio and value proposition to U.S. Payers
  • Collaborates closely with the Market Access Strategy team to monitor private and public-sector reimbursement trends, translate these trends to influence commercial contracting strategy and into field execution plans
  • Drive programs and initiatives that result in increased access to customers and patients
  • Direct the development and execution of a national customer engagement plan that is aligned with adagrasib launch strategies and tactics
  • Lead and work in cross-functional efforts with in-office Market Value & Access teams, Marketing, Data & Analytics, Medical Affairs, HEOR, and U.S. Sales to develop strategy and tactical plans as well as account pull-through plans building a strong and credible Mirati presence in selected private and public-sector accounts
  • Stays well-versed with expert knowledge and understanding of Payers, reimbursement environment, and distribution to contribute to Mirati’s launch strategy of adagrasib
  • Effectively align strategic account field operations initiatives with Medical Affairs, HEOR, patient access services, and Field U.S. Sales
  • Partner with the data and analytics team to maximize usage of data and reports that enable a higher level of customer / account service
  • Regularly evaluates the U.S. account team’s performance against established objectives, regional and national; Provides Mirati leadership with reporting, covering business issues, performance results, and customer service issues;
  • Participates in strategic planning and forecasting. Provides market insights, trends, competitive activity and conditions of the reimbursement environment.
  • Ensures customer expectations are exceeded; develops business plan that fits continually changing marketplace.
  • Plans, forecasts, and oversees budgets, while actively monitoring expenses as part of overall P/L management;
  • Coaches, develops and ensures focus and alignment with functional and company goals.
  • Provide consistent, timely and accurate performance feedback based on observations of key customer interactions as part of an overall performance management process through timely assessment of performance using quantifiable outcomes.
  • Ensures all activities of the U.S. National / Regional Account Team are conducted with the highest degree of ethics, meeting all legal requirements and standards, starting always with a mindset of ‘doing the right thing’. Works with legal, regulatory and senior leadership to address ambiguous situations, leading to decisions that balance innovation and risk management.

What is Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Biological Sciences, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 10-15+ years of progressive pharmaceutical experience with demonstrated success in product launches and building high-performance field account teams (managed markets, national / regional commercial accounts, contracting, and government accounts).
  • Minimum 5 years oncology experience, solid tumors and oral oncolytic preferred. Non-small cell lung cancer experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, leading, and managing field national / regional accounts operations through U.S. product launches as well as leading cross-functional projects and teams,
  • Solid analytical and organizational skills as well as the ability to interact and positively influence all levels of business across multiple departments
  • Demonstrated success working in a small to mid-size biotech company, reflecting an entrepreneurial culture and innovative mindset.
  • Demonstrated track record of success, leading teams, and developing talent.
  • Prior in-house and field management rotational experience in Marketing, Sales Operations, Training, and/or Field Sales preferred
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a high level of productivity, innovation, and priority-setting in order to deliver on organizational goals
  • Proven ability to think strategically and work with a high level of integrity
  • A highly effective collaborator who understands the importance of team collaboration with all company stakeholders

Mirati is looking for an experienced, motivated, and driven Associate Director of Trade & Channel. As a key member of the U.S. Market Access team, the Associate Director of Trade & Channel will contribute to the development of strategic and tactical plans in support of Mirati’s complete cycle management of trade customer contracts and coordination and execution of these activities within Mirati’s overall distribution and channel management strategy. In coordination with the Director of Trade Relations, this role will serve as a key contact to Mirati’s specialty distribution network and channel partners to ensure business goals and contractual obligations are being met and identify opportunities to negotiate and improve channel contracts. Responsible for the planning and execution for the specialty and trade channels while maintaining a high level of collaboration and integration internally including Marketing, Data & Analytics, Medical Affairs, Legal and Regulatory. The Associate Director will develop distribution and account strategies, and will identify, intervene and implement initiatives to improve operational outcomes that enhance specialty pharmacy, specialty distributor and retail services. The role will provide strategic insight on key marketplace channel dynamics and evaluate competitive activity within the distribution channel. The individual will be responsible for communicating network updates, challenges, and opportunities in a timely manner and ensuring network readiness. In addition, this role will also have responsibility for all aspects of data analytics and vendor fulfillment of any data needs for the Market Access team. This role reports to the Director of Trade Relations and is based in San Diego, CA.

Your Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Technical Opeations and external manufacturing partners in demand forecasting and pharmacy/wholesaler fulfillment throughout pre-launch and post-launch phases of adagrasib to ensure successful implementation of Mirati’s trade and distribution strategy towards the achievement of strategic and operational goals/objectives for Mirati’s launch of adagrasib.
  • Work closely with the Director of Trade Relations to ensure appropriate trade inputs into P&L and gross to net calculation
  • Partner with Market Access (in-house and field), Marketing, U.S. Field Sales and Medical Affairs colleagues to ensure the overall channel approach meets the needs of patients in the current market environment.
  • Work cross-functionally to manage data through trade, distribution, and channel entities to ensure strong insights through metrics, dashboards, standardized reporting, etc.
  • Work with Finance to ensure all financial and accounting needs are met by channel partners
  • Monitor market developments and new rules and regulations that impact T&D and Seres’ business and articulate the impact of these changes to Commercial and Seres leadership
  • Manage and coordinate communications to retail trade, specialty pharmacy and wholesalers to ensure successful communication of all Mirati product related information
  • Be a strategic partner and collaborate closely with the Director of Trade Relations and all other members of the Market Access Team in the development and execution of contractual relationships with specialty pharmacies and specialty distributors
  • Build relationships with key trade customers in various channels to ensure the services provided are meeting the needs of patients.
  • Review and respond to channel related Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Invitations to Bid (ITBs) in compliance with corporate policies and government regulations
  • Coordinate with Sales/Marketing Operations on all aspects of data acquisition and analysis for Managed Markets
  • Contribute as an integral member of the Market Access tea in the negotiation of favorable supply distribution agreements with distribution partners
  • Develop inventory targets through each node of the distribution channel
  • Proactively manage supply risks including development of appropriate risk mitigation strategies
  • Works with cross-functional business partnres as appropriate (Technical Opeartions, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Legal, Commercial) to optimize and address supply opportunities or challenges

What is Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Biological Sciences, or related discipline; advanced degree highly preferred
  • Eight years minimum experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry and/or managed care, payer marketing and/or market access with experience in the design, build and implementation of the trade and channel function, preferably for an initial commercialization biotech
  • Strong understanding of channel’s position in the overall access environment with strong understanding of the U.S. payer / reimbursement landscape
  • Pharmacy benefit product experience, including Medicare Part D
  • Experience in building channels with products that go through specialty distribution/specialty pharmacies
  • Experience servicing multiple classes of trade including pharmacy, hospital (inpatient and outpatient), IDNs, LTC, etc
  • Experience with building and running varying types of “distribution models”, with an understanding of how each serves the patient and other stakeholders
  • Experience building a channel model linked into a brand’s patient support services infrastructure.
  • Experience with institutions, key account management, oncology practices and GPOs with experience in trade and distribution contract development and negotiation
  • Excellent clinical, financial, and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of US/global healthcare systems and reimbursement processes/decision making
  • Deep understanding of oncology market with proven successful recent product launch experience highly preferred
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others in a fast-paced, team-oriented, cross-functional organization
  • Evidenced innovative thinking and the deployment of new ideas throughout an organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities; excellent time management skills.

The Associate Director of Payer & Value Strategy will closely partner with colleagues across numerous functions (HEOR, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Data & Analytics, Legal and Finance), being responsible for delivering concepts, frameworks, and business support solutions at launch and throughout the product’s life cycle across areas related to value. He/she will also be responsible for developing payer field team tools specifically including pre-approval education deck around disease epidemiology, BOI (burden of illness), BIM (budget impact), etc. Deliverables will include payer education tools (unbranded/landscape) as well as the development of the (branded) value pack (e.g., FDAMA, cost calculators, outcomes or net pricing workup, etc.). The role is an integral member of the U.S. Market Access team who is accountable for all brand-specific deliverables, strategies and tactics within the U.S. business. This role reports to the Senior Director of Pricing & Payer Strategy and is based in San Diego, CA.

Your Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of strategic and tactical market access plans, including integration of disease state and population health perspectives / insights into the overarching launch strategy for adagrasib.
  • Work with cross-functional business partners to develop and enhance product value proposition to optimize access, reimbursement and uptake to achieve strategic and operational goals/objectives for Mirati’s launch of adagrasib.
  • Collaborate with appropriate external partners to build the multi-channel strategic plan for payer and provider target accounts
  • Identify HEOR evidence requirements and gaps; understanding and providing guidance around strategic direction to key studies concerning the generation of data and real-world evidence (RWE) to support value demonstration and product differentiation
  • Be a strategic partner and collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Pricing & Payer Strategy and all other members of the Market Access Team leads to develop and implement the U.S. Value and Market Access strategy
  • Design, initiate and refine pre-launch landscape programs for payer and drive payer value proposition for launch of adagrasib
  • Support the development of health economic tools/models that can capture the real world and long-term benefits and which can lead to value maximization of Mirati’s oncology portfolio (e.g., FDAMA)
  • Conduct landscape analysis of market competitors to understand HEOR relevant data/tools in order to differentiate Mirati’s Oncology portfolio of launched medicines
  • Collaborate with internal HEOR team members to leverage their knowledge and expertise in HEOR and with PROs and translate into real world benefit demonstration to patients on adagrasib
  • Partner across Mirati for early access discussion to prepare and address prelaunch budgetary advisory committees as well as postlaunch value discussions/dossier development/ response assessments to HTAs (ICER, NICE, PBAC, etc.)

What is Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Biological Sciences, or related discipline; advanced degree in HEOR, Biostatistics, Health Services Research related field preferred
  • 8 years minimum experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry and/or managed care, payer marketing and/or market access. Direct experience in HEOR desired.

Your Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key point of contact/strategic partner for Mirati executive leadership across a wide range of asset/portfolio issues
  • Lead development and implementation of best-in-class oncology forecast modeling approaches;
  • Work with supplier partners, foster strong partnerships in the context of resources, timing and overall goals.
  • Proactively and continuously assess the relevant marketplace and its dynamics, customers and competitors.
  • Provide an unbiased point of view on the performance of markets/brands, supported by facts and evidence
  • Effectively explain modeling assumptions to key stakeholders including senior leadership and triangulate assumptions with other data and forecasting model to pressure test them and develop “what if” scenarios.
  • Perform business case assessments for development decisions and advise lifecycle leaders on significant development decisions and lifecycle plans
  • Help support the valuation of potential in-licensing/business development opportunities
  • Develop and deliver clear, concise presentations that synthesize disparate data (market research, secondary data, etc.), and that demonstrates a deep understanding of the market dynamics, competition, and brand.
  • Provide context and forecasting leadership to cross-functional partners (e.g., Finance, Supply Chain) to ensure the potential impact of commercial strategies are well understood and planned
  • Lead identification, maintenance, and generation of data references/databases for continuously improving oncology epidemiology, across markets.
  • Proactively identify new data sources that will enhance decision making & increase forecast accuracy.

What is Required

  • BA required, Masters or PhD preferred
  • 8+ years of Biotech or Pharma experience in the insights and analytics areas
  • 3+ Years experience pharmaceutical brand forecasting
  • Experience developing and using Excel-based forecast models and forecasting techniques, including smoothing, regression, time series analyses, and Monte-Carlo simulation
  • Forecasting experience in Oncology is required.
  • Product launch and Global experience (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically to drive key business decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts to stakeholders in simple language and lead/drive consensus building
  • Extensive knowledge and use of both primary research and secondary data
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity by questioning data and/or stakeholder for further nuanced information.
  • Ability to operate on less than perfect data, by having a sound logical framework. Can develop new ways of thinking about a problem, in order to provide an effective solution
  • Can defend a position when necessary, particularly around forecast assumptions, and is persuasive in negotiations (especially as it relates to senior / executive management)
  • Demonstrates a continuous commitment to the QC process to ensure quality of deliverables meets or exceeds team’s standards
  • Broad working knowledge of commonly used biopharmaceutical industry databases
  • Working knowledge of global access and reimbursement policies, and competitive environment and potential impact on product development and commercialization strategy
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment, including external vendors
  • Strong project management skills’ability to plan, organize and execute multiple projects efficiently, on time and within budget

Job Description Summary

The Senior Director of U.S. Value, Access, and Pricing Strategy will be responsible for leading an internal team in developing the overall access strategy for Mirati with specific focus on pricing, and payer marketing to support patient access throughout the lifecycle of Mirati’s products. This person is also responsible for list and net price strategy including contracting strategy and execution across all segments in the US market. This role reports to the Vice President, U.S. Market Value & Access and is based in San Diego, CA.

Your Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a successful internal team to support Mirati’s first product launch and subsequent portfolio with specific focus on access strategy including marketing and messaging for all payer types. This includes but is not limited to pre-approval education and post approval payer value decks
  • Responsible for recommending list and net pricing strategy at and subsequent to launch including contracting strategy for payers, physicians, and GPO’s targeting long term commercial success
  • Responsible for framing the internal business justification for any contract strategy approval and defining the internal processes supporting implementation of such including post contract ongoing performance measurement, validation, and evaluation.
  • Responsible to partner with finance on Gross to Net Forecasting
  • Responsible for articulating emerging and potentially new government policy implications for Mirati products related to price or access to products
  • Design a streamlined triage process including input from all stakeholders to handle field issues that arise.
  • Ensure a high level of collaboration and integration with the Marketing Team, Sales, Finance, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional members
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs to ensure the HEOR plan and value dossier include compelling and credible information for the US to support the payer messaging regarding value
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, as well as, US healthcare laws and regulations

What is Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Biological Sciences, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 10-15+ years of progressive pharmaceutical experience in market access and launch of oncology or specialty care products
  • Experience in payer, reimbursement, pricing & contracting strategy and execution
  • Proven strong understanding of 3rd party payers (commercial/government payers), distribution and trade, physician networks, healthcare systems, and public policies associated with Oncology
  • Launch experience required
  • Previous experience successfully developing and leading managed markets/payer initiatives that supported product launches; well versed in pharma/payer contracting terms across various segments; experience with oral drugs, including Medicare Part D
  • Track record in building leading, motivating, and training successful team members in small biotech
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills to C-suite management and external stakeholders
  • Ability to lead, collaborate and influence cross-functional teams within an organization
  • Experience in oncology solid tumors and oral oncolytic is preferred
  • Flexible, adaptable, diplomatic, and able to effectively deal with ambiguity
  • Possesses a good blend of strategic and operational experience with the ability to see the big picture and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to travel 15-25% domestic (Post-Covid requirement)
