Job Description Summary

The Regional Medical Affairs Director (RMAD) is a regionally-based experienced oncology professional with scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise responsible for providing medical expertise on Mirati and our assets in development. The RMAD is a highly valuable member of the Medical Strategy team who represents Mirati externally by engaging in highly credible scientific discussions with targeted thought leaders (TLs), clinical trial investigators, access stakeholders and other healthcare professionals.

Your Responsibilities

  • Deeply understand the unique oncology treatment paradigm, key stakeholders, and healthcare landscape (i.e. reimbursement/access, diagnostic testing) in the RMAD’s region
  • Define the strategic near and long-term medical vision and strategy for the region that incorporates opportunities for collaboration, communication, and education related to scientific/clinical data and new research, value topics, care pathways) and drive execution of this regional strategy
  • Identify and engage key TLs, HCPs, and investigators in scientific exchange on disease landscape & Mirati assets
  • Identify pre-clinical, clinical and post-marketing study investigators in alignment with Clinical Development and provide valuable and timely scientific support to the investigators
  • Serve as a key member of the medical strategy team to share regional actionable insights/learnings and develop the medical strategy
  • Participate/lead select other medical activities (i.e., congress planning and logistics) depending on prior experience or developmental interests
  • Collaborate with other cross-functional internal team members (i.e., commercial, payer/access, clinical development) to share regional insights/learnings and contribute to respective strategies
  • Respond to external inquiries and deliver appropriate clinical and scientific information
  • Represent Mirati at select scientific congresses and professional society meetings
  • Participate in the review, approval, and support of investigator-sponsored studies
  • Stay current in disease state management, emerging therapies and the competitive landscape
  • Adhere to internal standard processes and comply with regulatory and compliance requirements

What is Required

  • Doctorate level degree or equivalent experience is required (PharmD, PhD, MD, MSN)
  • Post graduate oncology experience is required with preference for lung cancer experience
  • 5+ years of previous industry medical affairs experience required, preferably in MSL and/or headquartered based medical affairs role
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of oncology customer segments and market dynamics
  • Demonstrated expertise in building relationships and participating in credible scientific exchange with multiple audiences
  • Thorough knowledge of local compliance
  • Team orientated and ability to work collaboratively towards common objectives
  • This role will support a specific territory and will require travel (50-75%)
  • An essential requirement of the position is to meet credentialing requirements for access to academic institutions, medical facilities, and organizations that are in the assigned territory. These credentialing requirements may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization and/or vaccinations. The Senior Director Regional Medical Affairs Lead will be responsible for leading either the west or east US regional medical team to support the development and preparation for the launch of Mirati Therapeutics’ Oncology products. The ideal candidate should have prior experience working in a cross functional dynamic environment with leadership of field or regional medical affairs team. The position will report into the Global Head of Regional Medical Affairs.

The Senior Director Regional Medical Affairs Lead (RMAL) will manage and lead a team of regional medical affairs directors (RMADs). There will be two RMALs in the US with responsibility for the east or west. The RMAL will ensure appropriate product and disease training of the field team, participate and help drive the overall Medical Affairs strategy, oversee opinion leader planning and execution and assist in driving clinical trial recruitment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor half the US RMAD team
  • Provide coaching and guidance to regional team members, including observations of stakeholder interactions
  • Support internal and external requests for TL engagement, strategic alliances, and collaborators
  • Represent regional medical affairs on the medical strategy sub team
  • Partner with Clinical Operations leadership to drive enrollment of prioritized studies via the RMAD team and leadership of centralized roundtables, webinars, and other initiatives to engage investigators, site staff and potential Investigators
  • Represent field medical on the investigator sponsored research (ISRs) committee; liaise between the working group and RMADs to drive the site engagement, tracking, reporting of ISRs
  • Partner with commercial and access field teams to develop account plans and strategies in accordance with all applicable compliance requirements
  • Provide medical support for key commercial activities in accordance with local and national compliance requirements

Job Description Summary

The Executive Director, Head of Medical Capabilities will be responsible for leading a best in industry oncology medical capabilities team to prepare for the launch of Mirati Therapeutics’ Oncology products. The ideal candidate should have prior experience working and leading a team in a cross functional dynamic environment with a focus on both strategy and tactical execution. This role reports to the Vice President, Head of Medical Affairs. The location of the role is preferred, not required, to be based in San Diego, CA and working regularly from Mirati’s corporate offices.

Your Responsibilities

The Executive Director, Head of Medical Capabilities will be a key member of the medical affairs leadership team that will develop the framework and oversee the build out of the medical capabilities and team for Mirati.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead a team to build medical capabilities from the ground up spanning medical information/call center, medical content/communications, non-registrational data generation operations (ISRs, strategic partnerships, ph IV, EAP operations), and medical education/grants; develop launch and annual plans for these activities and lead execution
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders in medical affairs, R&D, commercial, legal & compliance, finance and IT to implement respective plans
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new team members; foster an environment where direct reports are empowered, accountable, and feel valued
  • As needed, serve as senior leader of the medical affairs team to support TL engagement, strategic alliances, and external strategic collaborations
  • As needed, serve as subject matter expert to support medical affairs strategy and other functions
  • Stay current in emerging trends for medical affairs related to medical innovation, compliance, and excellence
  • Assume responsibility for other activities related to medical excellence and operations including but not limited to SOP development/maintenance, oversight of systems (e.g. SteepRock, MedComm) which support medical capabilities, budget, contracting, and compliance related activities (eg, FMV and other documentation of HCP interactions)
  • Leadership of other enterprise activities as needed

What is Required

  • Advanced scientific degree (Masters, PhD, MD) or related discipline required
  • 15+ years in medical roles including leading teams across various medical functions with preferred experience in product launches and building high-performance teams
  • Oncology experience required, solid tumors and oral oncolytic preferred. Non-small cell lung cancer experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge of industry compliance and regulatory environment

The Sr. Director, Medical Affairs Health Economics Outcomes Research is a versatile, flexible, and experienced medical affairs professional with an expert background in economic modeling, humanistic outcomes, and real-world evidence generation. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and team player with experience leading the strategic development and execution of economics and outcomes research strategies to support the launch and reimbursement of products within Mirati’s oncology portfolio. Through key leadership and partnership across cross-functional teams, the Sr. Director/ Director will incorporate HEOR strategy into broader disease area and clinical development strategies.

Your Responsibilities

  • Leads the overarching HEOR strategy and collaborates across the matrix (ie, Research & Development, Commercial, Market Access, Medical organizations) to deliver on the value of adagrasib and to optimize evidence generation efforts for launch and sustained reimbursement across the product lifecycle
  • Evolves HEOR best practices specific to research methods, study designs, endpoints, and policies
  • Drives effective and innovative HEOR research and ensures timely execution and dissemination
  • Oversees core evidence generation activities ie, comparative effectiveness; cost of care; economic modelling; clinical trial design and endpoints pertaining to patient reported outcomes, healthcare resource utilization; validation of alternative/surrogate endpoints, etc.
  • Engages in early and standard negotiations with established HTAs and up-and-coming agencies to review cost-effectiveness and budget impact models in the prelaunch setting (ie, advanced budgetary notification) and upon commercialization (ie, NICE, PBAC,ICER, etc.)
  • Identifies and engages external agencies, partners to design studies, monitors agency performance and quality to ensure that deliverables meet business expectations
  • Manages the communication and information of HEOR deliverables at core and leadership meetings, through publications, dossiers, and other content/tools
  • Supports additional medical activities within the Med Affairs team on an as needed basis

What is Required

  • Advanced degree in life sciences
