Job Description Sr. Financial Analyst – FP&A

What is this role really like?

Mirati is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to support the FP&A and operational finance function. This position will be responsible for budgeting and forecasting for Mirati’s research and administrative functions. This position will support the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecast updates for all functions. The ideal candidate will be proactive, self-motivated, diligent, and possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills to complement their analytical acumen.

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Work with finance and business leads to help create efficient, accurate, and detailed inputs and models in support of the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Assist in managing the financial planning and reporting tool (Adaptive), including data maintenance (Master Data, Actual & Planning data) and organizational FP&A reporting
  • Support the close process and management reporting through monthly and quarterly budget versus actual reporting and variance analysis
  • Help develop KPIs and insightful reporting to support business unit initiatives, projects, and programs
  • Analyze budget and forecast data with a focus on improving transparency and insightful reporting
  • Special project and ad hoc financial analyses to support key business decisions


  • A strong FP&A background
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • 5+ years of Finance experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Adaptive Planning preferred
  • Previous experience working in biotech industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field, MBA or CPA is also a plus
