Job Description  Senior Accountant

This position is responsible for helping to ensure the accuracy, completeness and appropriateness of general ledger transactions in accordance with US GAAP. Requires the ability to read and interpret contractual terms to ensure all costs associated with contractual commitments are recorded in the financial statements during the appropriate accounting period. This position will participate in a variety of financial functions including month-end closing, financial reporting and other administrative functions.
Qualified candidate will utilize their technical and operational accounting experience and skills to provide the following support:
• Assist with monthly closing procedures.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, including research and development accrual entries such as clinical trial accruals, and other journal entries, as needed
• Month-end balance sheet and P&L Fluctuation Analysis
• Assist with budget versus actual variance analysis
• Balance sheet account reconciliations
• Prepare audit schedules and analyses
• Property and sales and use tax returns
• Other duties, as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Approximately five years of accounting experience; combination of public accounting / private industry experience is ideal with recent experience working in a public company
• CPA certification strongly desired
• Experience working in biotech industry preferred
• Great Plains Dynamics experience preferred
